Originally called the Barnstable High School Dramatic Club, it was founded in 1957 and featured only a few dozen members. Over the years, the club has expanded to include over 100 members, with some shows featuring casts exceeding 300.[3] The Club is also affiliated with the award winning Barnstable Summer Family Theatre.[4]
In 2008, with the 50th anniversary of the club, the decision was made to perform the Wizard of Oz. Warner Brothers contacted the club about documenting the production from the first day of casting to the closing performance. 14 webisodes were produced and released the following fall.[5] Entertainment Weekly eventually gave the documentary an "A."
